Immediately after High School Elizabeth attended a six months nursing course where she graduated and worked as a nursing assistant. Not long after Elizabeth attended Roper Hospital School of Practical Nursing in Charleston, South Carolina where she graduated. Elizabeth continued her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
After working as a License Practical Nurse for many years, Elizabeth decided to further her education in Nursing. Elizabeth attended The Medical University College of Nursing in Charleston, South Carolina where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Elizabeth soon became a Registered Nurse. Elizabeth supervised the VA Diabetes Trial (VADT) on type 2 diabetic patients to determine if tight glucose control made a difference in complications of diabetes.
Elizabeth retired after working greater than fifty years in nursing. After retirement Elizabeth served on the board at Roper St. Frances Hospital in Charleston South Carolina for several years before relocating to North Carolina. Because of Elizabeth’s love and passion for people and nursing, she continues to do health education on a volunteer basis. Elizabeth started Angels of Mercy mobile clinic, where she does health screening and education.
Elizabeth is an active member of “The Park Church,” South Charlotte, North
Carolina where she serves on the Health Care Ministry.
