My story
I am Lorine Griffin, the founder of ZACKCUP® LLC, a minority woman owned small business based in Evans, Georgia. As a young girl working side by side with my father on our farm, I promised him that I would take care of him when he was no longer able to take care of himself. When my father became non-ambulatory, I was determined to keep my promise.
My first weekend relieving my brother, I quickly learned that keeping my promise to my father was easier said than done. The first time changing my dad, I was alone. It took me over an hour to change, clean and get him comfortable. When I was finished, we were devastated, exhausted, and we cried together. I then realized what my mom and brothers faced on a daily basis. His urinary incontinence was a source of discomfort and embarrassment for him. After calling all the medical supply outlets, the only supplies available were what we were already using. I was determined to create a device that would keep him comfortable, dry and help him maintain his dignity, along with saving the insanity of his caregivers, my family.
The Zackcup® urine collector was created out of my love for my father and my desire to respond to a real need to keep urine away from his skin. I quickly realized that there were many non-ambulatory men who could benefit from such a device. Over the years, I have spent countless hours refining and improving the Zackcup® urine collector. I have also worked tirelessly to promote the product and make it more accessible to those who need it most.
Today, I am proud to say that the Zackcup® urine collector has helped several non-ambulatory men to live more comfortable and dignified lives. It has also given their caregivers the peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are being cared for in the most respectful and compassionate way possible.
It is my hope that the Zackcup® urine collector will one day be a standard in all healthcare settings, so that no one has to suffer the embarrassment and discomfort of skin irritation and skin breakdown caused by urine.
I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, and I am committed to continuing to improve the male urinal and making it even more accessible to those who need it most.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story. I hope it will inspire others to follow their dreams and make a difference in the world.
